Architects from the Chinese bureau IDMatrix have built a laconic building with dizzying views and a restrained but poetic interior. 

Fujian Lake is one of the most beautiful places in China. It is located in the south-west of the country and is surrounded by mountain ranges and untouched forests. The new Xi’an Club Resort hotel is located on the shores of the lake, the interiors of which the architects from the IDMatrix bureau have made as serene as the landscapes surrounding the building. 

Oval in plan, the building is partially embedded in the slope on which it is located, and its rounded edge protrudes forward, creating a feeling of flying over the shores of the lake for visitors. It was important for the authors to display its organic connection with nature in the architecture of the hotel, so they used a natural stone finish of a sandy shade, and the monumentality of the columns and roof was softened with the help of thoughtful landscape design. The building is surrounded by old pine trees, picturesque stone boulders and small ponds with natural outlines. The plank terrace hovering over the lake looks even more spectacular due to the transparent glass fence. 

The minimalist interior of public spaces serves as a neutral backdrop for views from panoramic windows and natural installations: sculptural rock blocks, moss-covered boulders, compositions of dried flowers and tree branches. Factory pieces of furniture of simple shapes coexist with emphatically man-made things. 

The architects filled the halls with the works of local craftsmen — tapestries, rustic benches, artisanal ceramics. The expressive textures of natural materials contrast with the smoothness of polished self-leveling floors, white walls and transparent glass. The spaciousness, artistry of individual elements and rhythmic repetitions of others give the space a temple solemnity.
