The Leaf Pier designed by Thomas Heatherwick in Seoul Architecture 15.02.2022 The British studio Heatherwick Studio has presented a project of a floating island that will appear on the Han River near the Olympic Stadium in Seoul. Visualization: Devisual. A new public square will appear on the waterfront and will become the center of Seoul’s new sports and cultural district. The Leaf pier will allow to “rejuvenate” the space around the Olympic Stadium, built in 1988 and recently renovated by architectural studios Benoy, Populous, DA Architecture Group and NOW Architects. Visualization: Devisual. The pier in the shape of a rounded eight-pointed star will have several levels and connect to the park area and the marina on land. “We want it to be a refreshing and dynamic new public space in Seoul, where people can come to socialize and laugh”” the authors of the project say. Visualization: Devisual. On the pier there will be an auditorium and event spaces covered with a wavy roof covered with live plants. As well as outdoor recreation areas and playgrounds and observation decks. Visualization: Devisual. Original content from the site
