The new campus of Bocconi University under the SANAA project Architecture 10.02.2022 Architects have built a new student city near the university with academic buildings, a dormitory, a recreation center and a park open to everyone. Photo: SANAA The new campus was created for the headquarters of the Milan Bocconi School of Management, which is part of the university. The architects of SANAA decided not to build up the allocated area completely — they laid out a large park open to the city, and carefully integrated into it several translucent structures connected by a pedestrian path with a pergola. The glazed wave-shaped facades are partially covered with a metal mesh, which delays some of the sun’s rays, but at the same time does not disrupt communication with the city. Thanks to her, spaces are filled with natural light during the day, and at night, on the contrary, they illuminate the park like lanterns. They almost touch each other to facilitate transitions for students and teachers.
