In 2018, the final stage began here, during which Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes and Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes upgraded the system and built a new structure with an amphitheater for performances. The expressway, metro stations and historical districts of the city are located nearby. The complexity of the project was that the construction of the last facility should not have violated the hospital regime. And the excavations had to be so careful not to create a load on the infrastructure and not hinder the movement of transport and ambulances. The quality of the interior, according to them, directly affects the quality of life and the efficiency of the staff. Therefore, the bureau has designed workspaces and recreation areas with a large number of windows. In addition, the architects have thought out the layout and routes, since difficult orientation in a huge complex can cause stress. Now they will be able to spend less time on movement and more on taking care of patients. Photo: Adrien Williams Photo: Adrien Williams The bureau also built an amphitheater for performances. Its facade of copper panels resembles some of the iconic buildings of Montreal and Quebec and is the “heart” of the hospital complex. The main hall is equipped with retractable bleachers and can accommodate up to 365 people. The building also houses five modular meeting rooms protected by triple glass.
