Sports ground with bamboo roof in Bali Architecture 05.06.2022 The founders of the Green School project are building bamboo schools all over the world. Currently, such buildings are operating in New Zealand, South Africa and Mexico, but they will soon open in Bali. Ekaterina Karpukhina EmailPinterestVKonkakte EmailPinterestVKonkakte The authors of the Green School project, John and Cynthia Hardy, as well as their daughter Elora, the founder of the Ibuku studio, built a huge bamboo canopy in Bali, under which a sports ground for a private school is located. Architect Joerg Stamm and Atelier One also helped in the design. A large team worked on a complex roof project — the structure consists of 14-meter bamboo arches connected by mesh shells. At the bottom, under it, there is a multifunctional sports ground with an area of 760 m2. The structure of the structure is based on natural systems, in particular on how our chest cells are held due to the tension of the muscle and skin layer. The arches in this roof act as ribs and are stabilized by elastic membranes, analogs of tendons. The architects spent several months researching and developing the project in order to calculate an exact geometric solution that allowed them to create a structure with a minimum amount of material. The space around the canopy lets the wind through, providing natural ventilation. And the holes at the top of the roof allow warm air to escape. Photo: Tommaso Riva Original content from the site
