Floating sauna with a view of the Alps

Troll Rudebek Haar, a graduate of the Lausanne University of Art and Design, was inspired by Finnish saunas and decided to build an analogue in his native Switzerland.

Löyly is a floating wooden sauna with an area of only 2.2 m2. It accommodates up to three people and is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a bench, glass windows and an outdoor terrace where you can relax with a view of the Alps.

Its creator, Troll Rudebek Haar, lived in Finland for some time and got acquainted with the local tradition of visiting the sauna. Therefore, I decided to build my own sauna on the shores of Lake Geneva as part of my graduation project.

As the main material, he chose Swiss Douglas fir, which he pre-treated with oil to give a natural look. The material is ideal for this project: it is lightweight and resistant to temperature changes.

The sauna is located on the deck of a floating pontoon equipped with hollow barrels for stabilization on the water. Thanks to them, the structure can be located on lakes, ponds and lagoons with small waves. By the way, you can only get to the sauna by swimming.
