Modular house near St. Petersburg

This quiet coast of the Sukhodolsky Lake in the Leningrad region could well be characterized by the Old Russian “Lepota». But among the textbook birches, there is not a log cabin, but a futuristic module made of steel and wood.

It all started with the fact that in 2020, Elmaco received an unusual order: the client needed three modern modules that would add up to three cozy guest houses. At that time, the main building was already laconic in design on the site, even all the landscaping work was completed. So the main condition, in addition to the construction of houses in a short time, was the minimal impact on the surrounding nature.

A suitable option turned out to be the type of house already existing at Elmaco with an area of 27 m2. Outside, the module is sheathed with aluminum composite panels that reflect light and greenery around, and wooden slats with special hidden fasteners. Due to these slats, the entrance door becomes almost invisible, and in the case of three neighboring houses, such a holistic view turned out to be very useful.

Separate modules are connected by external units of air conditioners, sheathed with perforated panels with a pattern of deciduous forest (such panels are installed not only for beauty, but also to provide heat dissipation and ventilation).

But the most prominent architectural part of the modules is a large round window. “The window profile was laminated in a straight form and only after that it was bent and given the desired round shape,» Elmaco architects say. «It took about two weeks for the windows to shrink before installation.”

In total, it took three months to install three modules and connect them to the water supply and an individual electric boiler, along with the redevelopment of the modules. The basic layout of such a module includes a kitchen-living room, bedroom and shower room. “We changed the layout for this project,” Elmaco shares, «the client abandoned the kitchen and storage areas in favor of the interior space.» The customer decided to think over the interior of each house himself, as well as the design of the terrace with landscape lighting. It turned out to be a pleasant hassle for him.
