A house on a salt marsh in New Jersey Architecture 19.02.2022 The old house that stood on this site was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, so the family needed a new and durable building. The Salt Box project got its name for a reason. The building, which was worked on by architects Parnagian Architects LLC, is located on the salt marsh of Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. This area is prone to flooding, and its soil is saturated with salt, so it is impossible to build a foundation here. It was important to keep within the dimensions of the former building, since there are restrictions in the state, and the structure should not be more than 220 m2. So, the part of the house facing the water is completely glazed, and the side facades are partially hidden by a screen made of white cedar. This material will change its color under the influence of wind and salt and create a feeling that the house has been standing here for several decades. The combined living room, dining room and kitchen invite the residents of the house to admire the landscape, and in the study on the second floor, hidden behind a wooden lattice, you can work in silence or relax, watching the play of light and shadow.
