It is installed on the river terrace of the Somerset House palace complex as part of the London Design Biennale 2021. Archive of the press service As the designer notes, with his work he wanted to “direct people’s attention to communities that live outside their native country and are largely deprived of the opportunity to express themselves freely.” Archive of the press service The pavilion will become an educational center and a venue for cultural events. Outwardly, it resembles a shell for a reason: the designer was looking for inspiration in cowry shells, which were once used in trade as currency throughout Africa and beyond.
