The central pavilion of the host country was designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava. Oliver Schuh + Barbara Burg The four-story building is topped with a series of locally made carbon fiber “wings” that can be folded to hide the solar panels on the roof. Oliver Schuh + Barbara Burg In the center of the 15,000 m2 pavilion is a spherical void, which is an auditorium that can accommodate up to 200 people. It is surrounded by a multi-level meeting space, which is topped with a round skylight with the Expo 2020 logo.
