Public of the week: collection of architecture in the group “Architrave”

The authors of the public “VKontakte” recalls the words of Victor Hugo “Architecture was the main chronicle of mankind» and considers them relevant today.

Every day the authors of the community “VKontakte ”Architrave“ introduces readers to historical structures: from outstanding historical and architectural monuments to small and not always noticeable architectural forms scattered around the world. Often among them there are salvaged restored objects, but there are also those whose modern appearance leaves much to be desired.

Details are also not overlooked here: news periodically appears in the group, for example, about the restoration of entrance doors or about the opening of previously immured frescoes. So, during the Soviet period, the frescoes of the XVIII century, located above the entrance to the church of Saints Peter and Paul in Ukraine, were closed and only in 2008 they were returned to the world again. And such events tell about the history of the city sometimes better (and definitely more clearly) than any textbooks.
