On June 22, as part of the festival “Archstoyanie”, the opening of a new art object by Sergey Kuznetsov took place. The pipe house designed by the chief architect of Moscow was named “Russian Ideal» and reflected the philosophical reflections of the author.

This year the festival in Nikola-Lenivets is held under the theme “Personal”, and Sergey Kuznetsov’s project corresponds to the concept both in meaning and in the form of expression. The architect’s art object is a house — a personal space that can comfortably accommodate two people — and expresses Kuznetsov’s personal reflections on the future of Russian architecture.

The futuristic structure was designed thanks to modern construction technologies and sophisticated engineering techniques: for example, the frame of the building is formed of supporting ribs like the skeleton of a ship, and an impressive weight of about 12 tons is kept in balance by only six bolts. Due to this, a pipe with a diameter of 3.5 m and a length of 12 m placed on a relief with a height difference practically “hangs” in the air.

Teams of professionals from TPO “Pride”, “Trud”, SurfaceLab by Kerama Marazzi, “Spotlight”, Moss Boutique Hotel and Adwill led by the KROST concern participated in the work on the house. According to the CEO of the concern, polyurethane foam insulation inside the art object will maintain a comfortable temperature regime throughout the year. And under the seamless lining of a 4 mm thick stainless steel sheet — one of the main features of the project — there is a labyrinth system that drowns out the drum sound of rain.

So you can really live inside — stay overnight, cook dinner and take a shower. The interior is austere, but quite cozy: the plywood finish is emphasized by graphic elements and neutral textiles.

It seemed interesting to me to make a statement on what is considered perfection in Russian architecture today, and to show that high-class things can be done en masse in our country. That’s how the project “Russian Ideal” was born, and I must say that colleagues helped to implement it exactly in the form in which it was conceived.
