A hotel with unusual balconies in China Architecture 23.06.2022 The balconies of the Sky Yards Hotel are designed in such a way that visitors have a view of the sky and mountains, and not of the construction site below. Ekaterina Karpukhina EmailPinterestVKonkakte EmailPinterestVKonkakte This hotel did not get the most picturesque area: around wasteland, industrial zones and construction sites. But this place definitely has potential — Mount Taihang and the green hills are clearly visible from here. The owners invited Domain Architects to build a 48-room hotel here, as well as a restaurant, a banquet hall and several swimming pools. The building is located on a high base, which hid the underground parking. The budget was limited, but the architects acted with the expectation that in the future the hotel would develop and other buildings would appear here. The L-shaped structure is organized around the pools, so some windows overlook a quiet courtyard. Others are facing the construction site, but the architects decided to hide unnecessary views from the eyes of the guests and designed high partitions on the balconies. Only the sky and the mountain can be seen through them. “We have abandoned the traditional model,” the architects say. ”The exterior below eye level is blocked, and the top is left open and raised to let in more light and air.” Such balconies create private spaces in which you can take a bath in the privacy of the open air.
