Forest vacation house in Chile Architecture 19.02.2022 The architects Iragüen Viñuela Arquitectos built a holiday home in Chile using the foundation of an unfinished building. Clients of Iragüen Viñuela Arquitectos have asked architects to build a two-storey house in the nearby resort of Corralco to come there and do winter sports. The customers have already started cooperation with another architectural bureau, and the foundation of an unfinished building remained on the site. Therefore, the task was to complete the construction that had begun and, most importantly, before winter, so as not to miss the season. The foundation stood in an ideal place – in a bend of the river, in a small clearing, surrounded by mature trees. Therefore, the architects tried to maximize the views of nature. They designed a cruciform layout to encompass panoramas of the four cardinal directions. The space on the ground floor has become the heart of the house. Here residents meet for meals and rest. On the same level there are two bedrooms for adults. And upstairs there are four bunk beds for children and guests. In total, the cottage can accommodate up to 12 people. The house also has a lot of open spaces where you can relax after skiing in the mountains. For example, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi are hidden in the courtyards, surrounded by a dense forest. And on the north side there is a place for a grill, combined with a living and dining area. The decoration of the house is as simple as possible: the palette of natural shades of wood allows you to organically fit the building into the landscape, and the facade resembles agricultural buildings popular in this region.
