Its windows overlook an artificial biotope located at one of the main stopping points of birds flying north from Africa. The structure looks like a birdhouse, however, in this case it is still intended for people. The main element here is a round window that allows visitors to look at birds in their natural habitat. The building has a fairly simple layout: there is a central space, as well as a kitchen and toilets. The purpose of the “Bird Island” is to tell local residents and schoolchildren of the region about the problems associated with nature protection. Especially about climate change and the destruction by man of the stopping places of migratory waders. The architects of LOCALARCHITECTURE drew inspiration from nature and tried to fit the structure into the landscape. The roof is designed to blend in with the old pine trees, and there are boxes for bats to roost in the structure of the house. In addition, the dark shade of the facade resembles the colors of bird plumage. The wooden structure is entirely built without glue. The structural frame consists of tweezer-shaped elements that were cut on a CNC machine and assembled as a constructor. Photo: Lionel Mamaury; Matthieu Gafsou Original content from the site
