House with an internal garden in Ecuador Architecture 02.03.2022 Architect Felipe Escudero built this house for his mother, who loves magnolias very much. Therefore, the central element of the building was a garden with a flowering tree. Ekaterina Karpukhina Haley Lee Magnolia House is located at the top of a mountain valley in the Los Arrayanes area of Puembo. Its construction consists of a thin concrete slab that “sags” in the center and envelops the inner garden. The ceiling smoothly merges into the walls, creating a sense of security and providing residents with privacy. This project is the personification of tranquility and serenity. Panoramic windows offer an impressive 360-degree view of the landscape, and in the center of the building is a magnolia — a favorite tree of the architects’ mother. It was for her that Felipe Escudero built this house and named it Magnolia House. The glass facade blurs the boundary between the interior and nature, providing natural lighting throughout the day. And in the evening, a special backlight is turned on, located in the floor and on the ceiling along the edges of the concrete walls. The interior of the house is filled with air and light, and it was important not to clutter it with massive objects. Therefore, Felipe Escudero developed a collection of furniture, which became the first project of the company Near Life. This series is inspired by nature, and handmade work is harmoniously combined with technology. Original content from the site
