The Piaule brand is engaged in the production and sale of home textiles: towels and bed linen made of organic Japanese cotton. But at some point, the founders of the brand Nolan McHugh and Trevor Briggs noticed that renting out their own apartments in New York via Airbnb is unexpectedly more profitable than producing towels that are ideal from their point of view. And we decided to create a hotel where everything will be fine: the location, the architecture, and, of course, textiles from Piaule.

The main building.

Jim Garrison, who specializes in modular buildings, was invited to be the architect of the hotel. He came up with laconic houses for the project with huge panoramic windows in the entire end wall. Modern interior design, combining Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, Nolan and Trevor came up with themselves. The result is a truly aesthetic complex: beautiful, cozy and focused not on itself, but on the surrounding nature. “From the very beginning, we conceived of a place where the main experience and experience would be interaction with nature,” says McHugh, adding that the main materials used in the hotel were local blue stone (the hotel is located on the site of a former quarry) and untreated wood.

The house consists of a couple of rooms. The main thing is a bedroom with a panoramic window. There is nothing in it except a bed, tiny bedside tables and a small armchair. Here you need to relax and admire nature. There are no tables, cabinets and stands for suitcases (they are in the next room, next to the bathroom). Pure Zen and extreme laconicism in the Japanese key. The panoramic window can be pushed apart and you can sit in an armchair, as if on a balcony, the effect is enhanced by the fact that the houses hang over the hillside like a console. In the evening, the window can be closed with a blackout curtain.

All the necessary infrastructure for a country hotel is located in the main building: there is a reception, a lobby, a restaurant and a large spa center. Like the guest houses, the main building is closely connected with nature: it is low, everything is entirely in panoramic windows, it is spread out under the crowns of trees on the slope of a green hill — above there is a restaurant with a terrace and a living room with a fireplace, below there is a spa and yoga rooms.
