Maison Fiber installation at the Venice Architecture Biennale Architecture 25.06.2022 The project is completely designed by a robot. You can see it on the territory of the Arsenal, where the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale is taking place. © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart The whole structure consists exclusively of roving, resembling glass fibers, and is built by a robot. Therefore, the work became “the first multi-storey structure of its kind”, which explores an alternative material approach to the design and construction of residential premises of the future. © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart The fibrous elements of the walls and ceiling have largely made it possible to achieve an unusually light construction — the structure of the upper floor weighs only 9.9 kg/m2. Also, as a result of the construction of the installation, the authors did not need a large consumption of materials. And as they themselves noted, “in the future, such an approach will lead to a significant reduction in waste during the construction process.” © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart Photo: © ICD/ITKE/IntCDC/University of Stuttgart Original content from the site
